YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan plans to settle the Artsakh [Nagorno-Karabakh] conflict by applying military power, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told at an interview to Russia 24 TV channel.
Sargsyan also stated that the [OSCE Minsk Group] Co-Chairs and the world community last summer for a moment decided that Armenia and Azerbaijan have agreed on Basic Principles. However, the following meeting in Kazan revealed that Azerbaijan is not ready for settling the issue. New demands set by the Azerbaijani side were unexpected both for Armenia and the world community.
“Despite Azerbaijan is increasing military power, we see no alternative to the peace talks, as Armenia opposes to any solution by military actions. Neither a population of the country, nor Armenian people will agree in yielding Karabakh under any pressure. We will protect it will all the possible means,” Sargsyan said.
