YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Friday received members of the CIS observation mission that will monitor the country’s presidential election to be conducted on February 18. The delegation was led by CIS Deputy Executive Secretary Vladimir Garkun.

Nalbandian underscored the activities of the CIS observation mission and extended his thanks to the latter for closely following the electoral processes in Armenia yet again, Armenian MFA press service informs.  

In his turn, Garkun gave a high assessment to the conditions that are created in Armenia for conducting election observation missions, and informed that around 170 CIS observers will monitor the election and this group will be led by CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev.   

Also, head of the CIS observation mission presented its work method plus its standards and principles for preparing a final report on elections.

In addition, the interlocutors reflected on the agenda of the CIS Foreign Ministers Council session to be convened on April 4.
