YEREVAN. – Upon the request of Armenian News-NEWS.am, press secretary Armen Arzumanyan of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan reflected on the second letter which was addressed to Sargsyan by  world-renowned Armenian musician and lead vocalist of the acclaimed rock band, System of a Down, Serj Tankian.

To the query as to whether the president has read Tankian’s letter, Arzumanyan responded as follows:

“Yes. As he [that is, the President] already had noted in his reply [letter to Tankian], the leader of the republic shares the same view with Mr. Tankian in the overwhelming majority of the matters he has raised. The President believes that everything, or almost everything, was said in the pre-[presidential] election season and, now, it is time to act. And the changing reality should have the answers to all the questions.

Extending his thanks to the world-renowned singer and good Armenian for his active stance, the President expresses a hope that it will be possible for us to jointly begin a new phase, in a foreseeable future—[and] with a huge Armenia concert, with full members of the popular rock band [on hand]—in the nationwide program that is envisioned ahead of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.”

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, Serj Tankian issued a letter Tuesday to Armenia’s President, Serzh Sargsyan, in which, despite congratulating Sargsyan on his reelection, Tankian also noted that even the serving president himself is unsure whether he actually was elected President of Armenia on February 18. And, on the same day, Sargsyan responded to Tankian with a letter of his own.

And on Wednesday, Tankian addressed a second letter to Sargsyan, and noted that Sargsyan had not answered any of his questions.
