ISTANBUL. – Mehmet Ali Aygan, a friend of Istanbul-Armenian Murat Nazaryan—who is arrested on charges of carrying out assaults against elderly Armenian women in the city—, informed that he was very shocked to hear that Nazaryan was arrested on such charges.

The Istanbul police continue to interrogate Nazaryan but, prior to this, the news reporters attempted to find out more about him, Cihan News Agency of Turkey reports.

Aygan provided some details about him and stressed that, for the past four months, Nazaryan was working in the same hotel where he was staying at.

To note, Turkish websites have disseminated information Monday that the Istanbul police have detained Murat Nazaryan on suspicion of carrying out assaults against elderly Armenian women.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am informed earlier, as a result of the attacks against elderly Armenian women in Istanbul’s densely-Armenian-populated Samatya district since December 2012, a woman was brutally killed, two others lost one of their eyes, and an attempt was made to kidnap another.
