Vatican will place part of its archive of the World War II on the Internet shortly to silence the disputes over the actions by Pope Pius XII during the Holocaust, Catholic News Agency reports.

In October, 2008 Pope Benedict XVI’s declared about intension to move Pope Pius XII closer to sainthood despite protests of some Jewish organizations. The representatives reckon that Pope Pius XII should not be canonized as he did not openly condemn extermination of Jews. Meanwhile, Vatican says that Catholics saved European Jews from Nazis during the war.

The panel of Catholic and Jewish scholars that examined the material said it suspended its work because the Vatican had not released all of its archives from the World War II years.

Ten years ago panel this panel tried to detect whether Pius XII did his utmost to prevent persecutions against European Jews. Panel members stopped their work, saying they need more documents to make final decision. Later, Vatican stated that World War II archive needs to be catalogued and would be released in 2014 the earliest.
