“The relationship between Iran and Azerbaijan is neither against a third country nor does it allow any country to intervene in internal affairs of the two countries,” Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki stated at the meeting with Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov on Feb. 21, MehrNews agency reports.

In the course of the meeting Iranian FM pointed to the important geo-strategic position of Iran and Azerbaijan in the region calling to promote bilateral cooperation.

Azeri Parliament Speaker said the two countries have close historical, cultural and religious ties and added these relations paved the way for close cooperation.

He said that his visit to Tehran is aimed at enhancing ties with Iran in all spheres, particularly in parliamentary relationship.
