YEREVAN. – The U.S. position on the Armenian Genocide is a manifestation of the desire for reconciliation between Turkey and Armenia, Ambassador John Heffern said.
The U.S. policy on the Armenian Genocide is presented in the annual message of President n April 24. The message clearly indicates that 1.5 Armenians were massacred and deported during the last years of the Ottoman Empire, Heffern added.
He stressed that the policy is based on necessity of reconciliation between the Armenian and Turkish nations. The words which are to contribute to the reconciliation process are chosen.
A photo exhibition “Along the Trails of the Armenian Orphans” will open in Yerevan at the imitative of Naregatsi Art Institute and with the support of the Near East Relief and the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. The opening is planned for May 25 in the National Gallery of Armenia.
