YEREVAN. – Armenian Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Areg Galstyan said the statement by Iran’s Ambassador on gas matters is worth learning.

Recalling that the parties have a program to exchange gas for electricity, the Deputy Minister said that “the mutually beneficial contract suggests if we need, under some conditions, an additional amount of gas, then we can take it.”

Galstyan said he cannot say anything in terms of gas purchase and price. Everything depends on the offer which will need to be studied.

Asked whether the Iranian gas can become an alternative to the Russian, official said the more sources and destinations, fuels and supplies we have, the better.

“We will feel safer and more reliable,” Galstyan emphasized.

He also added that if forced to choose, then it should be done depending on what is more profitable for Armenia strategically, politically, and economically.
