YEREVAN. – National minorities of Armenia do not experience any political problems, representative of the Assyrian community said.

Razmik Khosroyev, member of the Assyrians’ Union of Armenia, said the main problems refer to education and culture and are the focus of the Armenian leadership.

Speaking about the Assyrian genocide, Khosroyev noted that both Armenians and Assyrians are suffering from inferiority complex and this is the problem that must be solved. He is hopeful that the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will not be limited only to holding numerous events.

He believes that if the United States recognizes the Armenian Genocide, this will also apply to the Assyrians, as for the last 5-6 years genocides of Assyrians and Greeks are considered in the framework of the Armenian Genocide.

“If the world presents any demands to Turkey, Assyrians will not stay indifferent,”  he said during the Monday press conference.

August 7 is the day of commemoration of the Assyrian Genocide which was proclaimed in 1968 by the world association of the Assyrians.
