YEREVAN. – On Sunday, and with a difference of just two votes, composer Aram Satyan was elected Chairman of the Union of Composers and Musicologists of Armenia.
Levon Chaushyan, Robert Amirkhanyan, Yervand Yerkanyan, and Aram Satyan were initially nominated as candidates.
But subsequently, Chaushyan withdrew his candidacy and supported Satyan. Yerkanyan likewise dropped from the race and urged the union members to vote by listening to their conscience.
A total of 86 of the 121 members of the union cast their ballots.
As a result, Aram Satyan received 43 votes, Union of Composers and Musicologists of Armenia former Chairman, composer Robert Amirkhanyan received 41 votes, and two ballots were deemed invalid.
