YEREVAN. – As of July 1 of next year, the average monthly salary of Armenia’s civil servants will total 240,000-250,000 drams (approx. $590-$615).

Armenian Civil Service Council Chairman Manvel Badalyan stated the above-said during a briefing with news reporters on Tuesday.

In his words, at present, the average monthly salary is 120,000-130,000 drams (approx. $295-$320).

Badalyan informed that the civil servants’ salaries were last raised in 2007.

“We were waiting for this for a long time, since the wage growth was always expected to enhance the productivity of the work,” he added. 

There are around 8,000 civil servants in Armenia.

Manvel Badalyan added that the salaries of several tens of thousands of people, who are working in the public sector, likewise will be raised.
