After the terrorist attacks in Moscow subway big cities tightened up on security in subways. At that, it was discovered that half of monitoring cameras in New York city subway stations are out of order, said Straphangers Campaign expert Gene Russianoff to Voice of America. According to him, city transport administration back in 2005 concluded contract with Lockheed Martin company for over USD 200 million for installing 4000 monitoring cameras in subways. As of today, half of them broke down.

Interestingly, New York city transport administration and Lockheed Martin brought action against reach other accusing of breaching a contract, but it changed nothing in situation with cameras.
