YEREVAN. – Armenia is in difficult geopolitical, social-economic situation, has small population and is involved in a frozen conflict with a neighboring state.
Therefore, the country is forced to have good relations with the West and East, USAID Armenia director Karen Hilliard said as she presented 2013-2018 assistance strategy for Armenia, Aravot reported.
She noted that Armenia has good opportunities for development thanks to its history, population and natural resources.
Karen Hilliard emphasized that the program was designed taking into account the existing challenges and opportunities.
Over the coming five years, USAID programs in the area of economic growth will work to promote equal opportunities for the citizens of Armenia, support competitive industries that can create jobs, increase the enterprises’ access to markets and resources, and improve the business environment for innovation and investments
