YEREVAN. – The New Year and Christmas holidays in Armenia were active work days for the emergency service, Emergency Medical Assistance Company Director Taguhi Stepanyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am. 

Stepanyan noted that their work was very intense during the holidays, they had numerous calls, but there were no cases of food poisoning.   

“They were our existing calls,” Stepanyan said. 

From December 31, 2013 to January 8, 2014, the emergency service responded to 770 calls in capital city Yerevan, and this was over 100 more as compared to the previous year. In the case of 140 of these calls, the affected persons were hospitalized. Between January 1 and January 2 at 9am, the emergency service responded to 809 calls, in the case of 136 of which, the affected persons were hospitalized.
