Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II spoke for banning abortions in Georgia.

In his Christmas address, Patriarch said according to unofficial data, around million abortions are carried out in Georgia annually.

“Can be a family happy if they carry out an abortion and kill innocent babies?” he wonders.

In addition, he also believes that a child born of a surrogate mother cannot be happy.

“Childless families should rather adopt children, the move that  is supported by church, or simply prepare for transition to the other world,” he said.
