YEREVAN. – A representative of the PR team of the Armenian authorities assured Haykakan Zhamanak daily that President Serzh Sargsyan’s current brief vacation also has a domestic political importance, the daily reports.
“Some political forces were spreading rumors that the political forces will consolidate and a rally process will start in February, with a demand for Sargsyan’s resignation.
“[But] Sargsyan, with his vacation, also shows that he is not worried about such news. He feels secure in the foreign policy front because the ‘Februarians’’ hope was the RF [i.e., the Russian Federation], whereas [RF President Vladimir] Putin issued a New Year’s congratulations to Serzh Sargsyan. They were pinning hopes on PAP [i.e., Prosperous Armenia Party] leader [and business tycoon] Gagik Tsarukyan, but he publicly drank a standing toast for Serzh Sargsyan.
‘“Thus the next revolutionary season was declared closed,’ said the PR representative of the authorities,” Haykakan Zhamanak writes.
