YEREVAN. – Armenia’s Ambassador Artak Apitonyan on Wednesday handed his credentials to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden.  

Following the official ceremony at the Royal Palace, Ambassador Apitonyan and King Carl XVI Gustaf had a private talk.   

The King of Sweden expressed his satisfaction on the opening of Armenia’s embassy in Stockholm, the Armenian MFA press service informs. He also expressed confidence that this event plus the opening of Sweden’s embassy in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan will greatly contribute to the development of relations between the two countries.  

For his part, Ambassador Apitonyan noted that it is a great honor for him to be Armenia’s first resident ambassador to Sweden, and he stated that he will spare no effort to strengthen the friendship between the two countries and peoples.   

Artak Apitonyan and King Carl XVI Gustaf expressed a conviction that all the prerequisites exist for bringing the Armenia-Sweden cooperation to a qualitatively new level.
