Armenian PM’s “knowledge-based economy” gives ground – newspaper

YEREVAN. – Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan had stated that he sees Armenia’s future as a knowledge-based society and economy, Zhoghovurd daily reports.

“He spoke about it on a regular basis since 2010. And what changes has Armenia recorded in this ‘domain?’ Certainly, negative.

“Armenia dropped by 13 points and occupied the 71st place among 146 countries in the Knowledge Economy Index 2012 of the World Bank. 

“[But] neighboring Georgia and Azerbaijan have improved their positions by 7 points and 15 points [, respectively].

“The 2013 data have not yet been finalized, and the World Bank has not yet issued them,” Zhoghovurd writes.
