The Svoboda faction of the Lviv City Council proposes to grant the title of “honorary citizen of the city” to five Ukrainian patriots, including Ukrainian-Armenian Serhiy Nigoyan.
Lubomir Melnichuk, deputy chief of the nationalist faction, stated the aforesaid, UNN news agency reports.
In addition, 55 MPs of the Lviv City Council have agreed upon allocating monetary assistance worth 50,000 hryvnias (approx $5,924) to the families of the victims. The Ukrainian public likewise supports this initiative.
One of those killed, as a result of the recent clashes in Ukrainian capital city Kyiv, was an Armenian by the name of Serhiy Nigoyan, who was a Ukrainian citizen. Nigoyan was shot in the neck and in the head. The 20-year-old was from the Russian-speaking City of Dnipropetrovsk, where the vast majority of the population actively supports the political course of the Ukrainian authorities. The young Armenian was dreaming of becoming a professional athlete.
