YEREVAN. – Armenia’s opposition National Self-Determination Union (NSU), led by NSU Chairman, ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan, and several dozens of others held a candlelight vigil on Friday in front of the Embassy of Ukraine.

The participants in the event lit candles in memory of Ukrainian Armenian Serhiy Nigoyan, who was killed during Wednesday’s clashes in Ukrainian capital city Kyiv, and of the other victims (PHOTOS)

“We certainly are not happy that the events are developing in such a way in Ukraine. But we are proud of the determination by the Ukrainians,” the NSU leader specifically stated across the embassy.

One of those killed, as a result of Wednesday’s clashes in Ukrainian capital city Kyiv, was an Armenian by the name of Serhiy Nigoyan, who was a Ukrainian citizen. Nigoyan was shot in the neck and in the head.  The 20-year-old was from the Russian-speaking City of Dnipropetrovsk, where the vast majority of the population actively supports the political course of the Ukrainian authorities. The young Armenian was dreaming of becoming a professional athlete.
