The airplane carrying French President François Hollande landed at Ankara airport in Turkey on Monday.
At the airport, Hollande, who has arrived in Turkey on an official visit, was welcomed by Mevlut Cavusoglu, Minister for European Union (EU) Affairs and Chief Negotiator of Turkey in accession talks with the EU, the governor of Ankara Province, and several other officials, Radikal daily of Turkey reports.
On the first day of his two-day trip, the French President is scheduled to visit the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, and, subsequently, he will meet with his Turkish counterpart, Abdullah Gul.
Next, the two countries will sign agreements.
Afterward, Holland will talk with PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In addition, the French leader will meet with chairman Kemal Kilicdaroglu of Turkey’s main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP).
Within the framework of his visit to Turkey, François Hollande is also expected to get together with Rakel Dink, the widow of Hrant Dink, the founder and former chief editor of Agos Armenian weekly of Istanbul, who was killed on January 19, 2007 in front of the weekly’s office. The ongoing trials into Dink’s murder, however, have not yet exposed those behind this assassination.
