Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) President Bako Sahakyan signed a decree on Thursday. 

Pursuant to the order, Private Karen Galstyan of an NKR Defense Army military unit is posthumously awarded with the Military Service Medal for his bravery while defending the NKR state border. 

Military serviceman Karen Galstyan (born in 1994) sustained a fatal gunshot wound to his head on Tuesday, and as a result of the adversary’s sniper fire. Galstyan was killed at the military position of the protection area of an NKR Defense Army military unit which is stationed in the northern direction.

Armenian News-NEWS.am had learned that Galstyan was from Sisian city in Armenia, and he was to be discharged from the army in spring. 

An investigation is carried out to determine the circumstances of the incident.
