Any work, which you set out to do, must be done as quickly as possible, and with quality.

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated the aforesaid Thursday at his joint news conference in Prague, with President Miloš Zeman of the Czech Republic.

Sargsyan responded to the RFE/RL Armenian service’s query as to what makes Armenia want to join the Customs Union at such a rapid pace.

“If we have decided to join the [Russian-led] Customs Union, we need to do it as quickly as possible. Why should we slow down? If the national interest is on the basis of our decision, this decision must be implemented as soon as possible.

“The Customs Union is an economic organization, and not a military [one]. The Armenian-Russian strategic cooperation should not be questioned at all.

“Yes, the Russian Federation also cooperates with Azerbaijan; but this does not mean that we have the right to and the option of prohibiting the Russian side from cooperating with Azerbaijan,” the Armenian President stated, in particular.

Serzh Sargsyan also assured that the situation on the border is overseen, and the Armenian side has all the capacity to defend its lands.
