YEREVAN. – Armenia’s four non-ruling-coalition parliamentary forces’ decision not to take part in the activities of the National Assembly (NA) Audit Committee will disrupt its work.
The NA Regulation permits the committee to work with the participation by the MPs of solely two NA factions.
Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Vice-Chairman, RPA NA Faction leader Galust Sahakyan, who is the person behind the respective initiative, told the aforesaid to reporters on Monday.
“The parliamentary majority is accountable for everything in parliament. In the past, we had reach an agreement with the parliamentary opposition and set up the Audit Committee, with their participation.
“The need for a change [in the committee] was arisen, since it had seemed to them that they can get together, hold a session, and choose a new committee head among the four of them,” Sahakyan said.
He added, however, that the opposition MPs, by convening a special session of the Audit Committee, had not taken into account that the committee is set up all over again at the start of any NA sitting.
