YEREVAN. – The State Revenue Committee (SRC) of Armenia issued an explanation on the media reports, according to which the Armenian customs officers, at Meghri border checkpoint with Iran, have prohibited the entry of a consignment of diesel fuel from Iraq to Armenia.

“The prohibition has nothing to do with the customs procedures. The customs agencies have not posed any obstacle, and therefore the conclusions about a biased or a subjective approach do not correspond to reality.

“The problem is in the quality of the given consignment, whose inspection is not within the functions of the customs service. The customs service collaborates with the respective organization and manifests a consistency.

“The service carries out its immediate duty. It assists in ensuring the quality of imported goods, to protect the interests of the consumers,” the SRC release states, in particular.
