YEREVAN. – Parliamentary majority on behalf of the Republican Party of Armenia and its coalition partner Orinats Yerkir voted down the initiative of non-coalition forces on setting up an interim committee to discuss gas debt.
The coalition MPs voted against the initiative (58 votes), only 44 MPs voted for.
Prior to the vote, head of Heritage parliamentary faction Ruben Hakobyan noted that during the previous two days the ruling party failed to explain how a debt of $300 million has been accumulated. Addressing the majority he called on the lawmakers to vote for the initiative to get explanations. He was supported by opposition MP Hrant Bagratyan.
