YEREVAN. – The Dilijan International School (DIS) of Armenia will have its great role and importance on the world educational map.   

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan noted the aforesaid during his visit to Dilijan city on Friday. 

Sargsyan also paid a visit to DIS, which is still under construction, where he was briefed on the course of the construction, informs the Government press service. 

The Dilijan International School, which is a large-scale philanthropic initiative, will open its doors in September 2014. By 2023, the school expects to provide education to 650 students from at least 60 countries. Ninety percent of the gifted students will receive full scholarships granted by the DIS benefactors.

The PM gave a high assessment to DIS’ importance in terms of the development of Dilijan and Armenia, alike. 

“Around 1,000 jobs are created owing to this structure. But when it will be put in operation, additional jobs requiring high qualifications, with high wages, will be created,” the PM said.

In October 2013, Dilijan International School (DIS) was granted a final approval to become a United World Colleges (UWC) school under the name of UWC Dilijan.
