YEREVAN. – The CIS states must work on joint regional advertising to make their countries more attractive for tourists, Armenian Economy Ministry official said.

The CIS states are cooperating effectively in the tourism sector, Mekhak Apresyan said during “CIS: 2014 year of tourism” space bridge between Moscow, Kiev, Astana, Chisinau and Yerevan.

“Tourism is declared a priority field in Armenia. The government has designed plan of events dedicated to a year of tourism in CIS. We will hold a number of traditional festivals, such as barbeque festival in Akhtala, “Cultural Revival”, festival of dolma and other events,” Apresyan said.

The official said the number of tourists visiting Armenia increased dramatically over recent 13 years.

2014 has been declared a year of tourism in CIS area.
