PreferredYEREVAN. – About twenty Armenian feminist activists staged a flash mob dance Friday at Northern Avenue in downtown capital city Yerevan (PHOTOS).
Their action was devoted to Valentine’s Day, and the One Billion Rising global campaign to end violence against women, to rise for justice, and to promote gender equality.
The One Billion Rising flash mob, which is held in 167 countries, is held in Armenia for the first time.
“We expect to inform people about violence, raise the matter, and resolve it as much as possible. It is a very good day to encourage women, so they may stand up for their rights,” flash mob participant Lida Minasyan, who is Coordinator of the “Society without Violence” NGO, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
The activists danced to the song written for the One Billion Rising flash mob.
