Nevin Il, who is President of Turkey’s DOGÜNKAD (Association of Businesswomen of Eastern and Southeastern Regions), stated that is indispensable to open the country’s border with Armenia, to develop the eastern and southeastern regions of Turkey.
Il noted that they want to implement cooperation projects with the neighboring countries, and she recalled that they carried out a joint project with the “Women’s Forum” NGO of Armenia, reports Internethaber website of Turkey.
“Memorandums of cooperation are signed with ten Armenia-based companies, but all [of Turkey’s] land borders with Armenia are closed. When we send goods [to Armenia] via Georgia, this increases our costs by 300 percent.
“Instead of arriving in Armenia in 6 hours, we arrived in 35 hours via Georgia. We established a very good cooperation and friendship. If the border is open, our exports will increase by 50 percent,” Nevin Il said, in particular.
