YEREVAN. – The Armenian national currency, the dram, continues to depreciate, and the Central Bank (CB) of Armenia continues to conduct foreign currency interventions to prevent the devaluation of the dram, Haykakan Zhamanak daily reported.

“Yesterday [i.e., Monday], one [US] dollar’s price at the [Armenian] stock exchange comprised 415 drams [and] 15 lumas, against last Friday’s 414 drams [and] 80 lumas.

“Judging by the volume—more than 8 million dollars—of the transactions that were conducted, it can be argued that this is the cash foreign currency which the CB had ‘injected.’

“Since the beginning of February this year, the CB ‘threw’ more than 100 million dollars into the market to prevent the depreciation of the dram,” Haykakan Zhamanak wrote.
