YEREVAN. – With our international relations, and the type and quality of our allies, we [i.e., Armenia] are much more secure today than we were five years ago.
President Serzh Sargsyan stated the aforementioned during his visit to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia on Friday.
Sargsyan toured the MFA and, subsequently, he held a consultation with the senior officials of the ministry.
The FM, the deputy FMs, and the MFA Secretary General presented reports to the President.
FM Edward Nalbandian presented the ministry’s activities since 2008, and its actions toward the fulfillment of the tasks that are put before the MFA.
In turn, President Sargsyan posed questions to the speakers on the topics that were raised, he presented his respective comments and observations, gave instructions to the relevant persons in charge, spoke about the ministry’s directions and courses of action, and underscored the working format of such meetings.
The President also responded to questions asked by the participants in the consultation.
In response to the query on Armenia’s foreign policy and security, Sargsyan specifically highlighted the results of the work being done.
“Each of us, state officials, has his obligations. I have a duty of safeguarding the territorial integrity and security of our country.
“Our army has never been this much militarily equipped and combat-ready. I don’t remember that there ever was such a definiteness on the Karabakh issue. We are not trying to deceive or mislead anyone,” the President stated, in particular.
At the end of the consultation, a group of members of the Armenian MFA were encouraged for their conscientious and productive work, as they were awarded with the certificates of appreciation of the President of Armenia.
