YEREVAN. – Hundreds of employees from the Armenian capital city Yerevan’s Nairit chemical rubber plant are staging a protest outside the Government Building on Thursday.

They demand that their sixteen-month unpaid salaries be paid and the plant resume operations.

Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, who was in a hurry to get to the Cabinet meeting, approached the Nairit workers and promised to receive twenty of them, after the Cabinet meeting, and listen to their complaints.

“We need time to study the issues,” the PM added.

At present, the protestors are awaiting when the government will receive their working group, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from location.

Nairit chemical rubber plant has 2,300 employees who, however, are laid off.
