YEREVAN. – Armenia’s newly appointed Ambassador to the United States, Tigran Sargsyan, on Monday presented his credentials to US President Barack Obama. 

Ambassador Sargsyan also noted that Armenian-American relations are distinguished by their high level and productive cooperation, the Armenian MFA press service reported. He added that there is a great potential for development in the current relations between the two countries, and that his mission will aim to develop cooperation and expand collaboration. 

Welcoming Sargsyan and congratulating him on the start of the diplomatic mission in the US, Obama expressed confidence that Armenia’s new ambassador to the US will use his considerable track-record and knowhow for the deepening of relations between the two friendly nations. 

President Obama also stressed that the US underscores its relations with Armenia, partnership in international peacekeeping missions, and cooperation toward the strengthening of democracy and economic development.  

Barack Obama also highlighted that the US highly appreciates Armenia’s commitment to achieve a peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, and strengthen security in South Caucasus.  

The interlocutors laid emphasis on the fact that the American-Armenian community plays an important role in the development of relations between Armenia and the United States.
