YEREVAN. – The meeting in Sochi will solely bring a temporary halt, Karabakh War veteran Manvel Yeghiazaryan said at a press conference on Tuesday.

Yeghiazaryan explained the aforesaid by noting that the state leaders did not reach a common ground and did not make a joint statement with respect to the recent incidents.

“Nothing has changed. [Armenian President] Serzh Sargsyan maintained his view, [Azerbaijani President Ilham] Aliyev, [maintained] his [view]. Peace and security are not guaranteed; peace and security can solely be achieved,” the Karabakh War veteran stated.

As per Yeghiazaryan, the only way to achieve peace in Nagorno-Karabakh is through the strengthening of the state and the raising moral and psychological level of the soldiers and the self-consciousness of the people.

“This is not the war of the Azerbaijani people; this is the war of the Aliyev regime. Aliyev is attempting to show to the world and the [Azerbaijani] citizens that as if he has control over the situation at the Karabakh conflict zone,” Manvel Yeghiazaryan concluded.

On August 10, the Armenian, Russian, and Azerbaijani presidents—Serzh Sargsyan, Vladimir Putin, and Ilham Aliyev—held a trilateral talk in Sochi, Russia. They discussed the avenues for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
