YEREVAN. – Several dozens of Armenian National Agrarian University (ANAU) lecturers and students who are protesting the ongoing construction in the area of the ANAU former laboratory, and by the opposition Orinats Yerkir (Rule of Law) Party (RLP), again assembled at the university courtyard on Thursday.

A few dozen RLP members and as many police officers likewise have gathered at the construction site, the Armenian News-NEWS.am reporter informed from the scene.

The police are standing near the fence, and they have formed a human wall between the demonstrators and the party members.

The ANAU lecturers are stating that they will not permit the construction to continue.

During their protest on Wednesday, the university faculty had announced that they will assemble at the university courtyard every day until September 1, when the new school year kicks off in Armenia.

The Armenian National Agrarian University employees complain that RLP has started an illegal construction in the area belonging to the University. The Orinats Yerkir Party members, on the other hand, assure that they are doing nothing unlawful and, based on the 2008 decision by the Yerevan Municipality, the said area belongs to them.
