YEREVAN. – Over 38 tons and 576 kilos of hemp as well as 45.1 kilos of poppy have been destroyed as of August 16 within the framework of preventive measures conducted by the Armenian law enforcers.

The investigators detected 46 cases of illegal drug trade, and nine criminal cases have been launched.

Hemp bushes with a weight of over two tons were detected in 206 farmlands.

The purpose of the events is detection and destruction of wild hemp and poppy, as well as illegally grown drugs, within the framework of a program on fight against drug trafficking.
