YEREVAN. – The pollution of Lake Sevan is perilous for all freshwater in Armenia.
Water resources expert and environmentalist Knarik Hovhannisyan noted the abovementioned at a press conference on Wednesday.
In her words, a drop in the lake’s water level increases the risk of pollution in the lakeshore area, and this pollution can penetrate deeper, all the way to the main levels of Armenia’s drinking water.
Hovhannisyan added that even though the Armenian government has placed the emphasis on the planned increase in Lake Sevan’s water level, it is slow in the disassembling of the lakeside structures, which greatly increase the risk of pollution.
