The new government of Turkey will be formed on Friday. Incumbent Prime Minister and President-elect Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced the aforesaid before the start of Wednesday’s general assembly of the country’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP).

“Today’s speeches are not goodbyes in any way. This is not a change in our mission, but just a change in the title of the position,” said Erdogan, who on Thursday will start carrying out the duties of Turkey’s president, reported ITAR-TASS news agency of Russia.

The AKP general assembly will elect the party’s new chairman who, in turn, will become the country’s 26th PM. The only person running for this office is serving FM Ahmet Davutoglu, whom Erdogan nominated for this post on August 21.
