On Thursday, now ex-Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan will formally assume the powers of the President of Turkey.

Earlier, he had hinted that he plans to increase the role of the Head of State.

His critics fear that he could become a dictator, reported the BBC Russian Service.

After Erdogan, now former FM Ahmet Davutoglu, who is elected new chairman of the country’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP), will head the new Cabinet of Turkey.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan was PM since 2003, and he no longer could to run for this office. He won in the first round in Turkey’s first ever direct presidential general election, as he received 52 percent of the votes.
