YEREVAN. – National Assembly (NA) Speaker Galust Sahakyan on Thursday received Kazakhstan Ambassador to Armenia Ayimdos Bozzhigitov.
The NA leader underscored the development of interparliamentary relations and the role of the parliamentary friendship groups in the deepening of these relations. He noted that the two countries will have closer friendly ties especially after Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union (EaEU).
Touching upon the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Sahakyan said that this is one of the most important issues on Armenia’s political agenda.
And reflecting on crimes against humanity, Sahakyan noted that in April 2015—and ahead of the centennial anniversary of the Armenian Genocide—an international conference, titled “Parliamentarians Against Genocide,” will be held in Armenia’s capital city Yerevan.
In turn, Ambassador Bozzhigitov stated that a constructive political dialogue is established between the two countries, and noted that Kazakhstan favors the EaEU enlargement and Armenia’s accession to this organization.
Commenting on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the diplomat stated that Kazakhstan supports a peaceful settlement to this issue and sees its resolution within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group.
