YEREVAN. – Official Baku is attentively following the process of Armenia's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union because they believe Armenia will be more secure after joining the bloc, analyst Stepan Safaryan said.

He is confident that joining Eurasian Union will be another obstacle for Azerbaijan's possible actions in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“Kazakhstan will hardly defend Armenia, but formally Kazakhstan will be Armenia's ally in another format,” he said during a media conference on Friday.

The analyst recalled that Armenia's accession was discussed during all meetings of Customs Union member states.

Safaryan is not confident that Armenia will join the Union in October. He drew attention to the fact that only president of Kazakhstan mentioned Armenia's possible accession. Moreover, his wordings were evasive and suggested that the issue of Armenia's accession has not been fully solved.
