September 1 is observed in numerous countries, including Armenia, as Knowledge Day, on which the beginning of the new academic year is celebrated.

Traditionally, schools hold festive events on that day, and devoted to the start of the new school year.

Especially the first-graders welcome this day with a particularly jovial manner.   

This year more than 1,450 elementary schools in Armenia will open their doors before schoolchildren, and 40,000 children will attend school for the first time in the country.   

Events devoted to Knowledge Day will be held Monday in all elementary schools in Armenia.
