YEREVAN. – I have to be engaged solely in preserving the “parliamentary four,” so that it may invigorate its political life as much as possible.

Armenia National Assembly (NA) Speaker Galust Sahakyan told the aforementioned to reporters on Monday, reflecting on a potential split in the “parliamentary four”—which is a force comprising the four non-government NA factions (Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, and Heritage)—, and due to the expected constitutional reforms.

“I don’t anticipate anything worse than that because the more choppy the political field becomes, there will be that much progress.

“ The ‘[parliamentary] four’ are not an arranged political structure; their consent is to the following: to respond to specific issues in consolidation. They are neither an alliance nor a coalition nor an ideological or a principle-based union,” the NA leader said.

As per Sahakyan, the “parliamentary four” join forces to make the phenomenon become visible.

“I believe the ‘[parliamentary] four’ should have a say, since they should not say, ‘Yes, the Constitutional reforms are needed, but we will do them in 2017 and 2018,” Galust Sahakyan concluded.
