Armenia’s opposition National Self-Determination Union (NSU) Chairman, ex-presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan has not yet decided whether or not to start a hunger strike on September 8, and outside the Office of the President.
Hayrikyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am that his friends and close circles are still discussing this matter.
“Some say, ‘Definitely go on a hunger strike,’ and the other part thinks that there is no need. I had decided to go on a hunger strike, but I don’t know I’ll do it or not because I don’t want to go against [the will of] my friends.
“At any rate, there will be a rally at 26 Baghramian [Avenue, the official address of the Office of the President] on September 8, subsequently, a march, whereas the hunger strike and the sit-in are uncertain,” he said.
On August 14, Paruyr Hayrikyan had submitted a letter to the Office of the President, and demanding President Serzh Sargsyan’s resignation. But the letter was left unanswered, and therefore Hayrikyan had decided to go on a hunger strike.
