YEREVAN. – National Assembly (NA) Speaker Galust Sahakyan on Friday received German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) Office Armenia Director Dagmar Bott.

Sahakyan noted that ever since 2009, GIZ has closely cooperated with and provided assistance to the Armenia NA, Control Chamber, and Ministry of Finance, the NA press service informed.

The Armenian parliament leader added that the cooperation, which is carried out within the framework of the “Public Finance Management in South Caucasus” program, has recorded a positive result.

He also welcomed the next phase of this program and positively assessed the ongoing program to raise the effectiveness of parliamentary oversight within the public finance management system.

Sahakyan stated that as a result of close cooperation, the necessary legal framework was established to set up an independent budget office in the Armenian parliament.

Bott, for her part, expressed the hope that the German Society for International Cooperation programs will be continuous and effective in Armenia.
