YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan is attempting to use provocations on the border to impact the Nagorno-Karabakh negotiation process.
Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan stated the aforesaid stressing that the Armenian party favors a pacific resolution to this conflict.
“This is solely about the Nagorno-Karabakh people’s right to self-determination in the land of their ancestors. There is no alternative to this, and we need to do everything for this.
“We defended our borders, but the adversary is attempting to exert pressure a second time and reach concessions. Mutual agreements are acceptable for us, but unclear concessions in exchange for obscurity are unacceptable,” Ohanyan said.
As per the Armenian defense minister, Azerbaijan is trying to show strength to influence the negotiation process, and its recent acts of sabotage and violations of the ceasefire had this objective.
“[But] it failed owing to the bravery of the [Armenian] officers and soldiers,” the minister stated adding that, as a result, the Armenian President’s positions were much stronger in the ensuing trilateral talks.
