All principles of international law clash in Azerbaijan, which is a country that spreads terrorism throughout the world.    

Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) Presidential Press Secretary Davit Babayan told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

He noted the abovementioned commenting on British Ambassador to Armenia Katherine (Kathy) Jane Leach’s statement that the international law precepts of territorial integrity and peoples’ right to self-determination somewhat contradict one another.   

In Babayan’s words, there certainly are numerous instances when the right of peoples to self-determination and territorial integrity clash.

“But I believe this clash is artificially created; it is unnatural. These two principles do not contradict each other in Great Britain itself.    

“Back in 1998, the Belfast Agreement [a.k.a. The Good Friday Agreement] was signed with Northern Ireland, whereby Great Britain recognized the right of Northern Ireland to hold a referendum,” Babayan said.   

He added that there is no contradiction here, since these matters are regulated in a civilized manner.

“These two principles cannot clash in civilized countries,” the NKR presidential press secretary stressed.
