YEREVAN. - Czech parliament members are ready to discuss Armenian Genocide recognition, Armenian News - NEWS.am reports.
According to the press service of Armenian Parliament, the delegation of Armenian MPs led by Deputy Speaker of the Parliament Eduard Sharmazanov visited on Thursday Czech Republic, where they met with members of the Inter-Parliamentary Friendship Group.
At the meeting that was also attended by the head of the Friendship Group, Czech MP Robin Behnish, Eduard Sharmazanov expressed satisfaction with the high level of inter-parliamentary relations, noting the need to intensify cooperation both on bilateral level and in international institutions. The Deputy Speaker of Armenian Parliament proposed Czech MPs to raise the issue of recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide in their parliament. In turn, the Czech MPs expressed their willingness to reise the issue in the near future.
On the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement, Eduard Sharmazanov stressed that Armenia is committed to exclusively peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict within the OSCE Minsk Group and on the basis of the principles of international law that guarantee security and the right of the people of Nagorno-Karabakh to self-determination. Armenian MPs also invited Robin Behnish to take part in International Conference “Against the Crime of Genocide” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide.
