YEREVAN. – Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian on Monday received Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Nils Muiznieks.

Welcoming the guest, Minister Nalbandian stressed importance of working with Council of Europe and other agencies dealing with protection of human rights.

“Armenia has ratified all main UN documents on human rights and carried out reforms in this sector,” Minister assured.

For his part, Nils Muiznieks said he arrived in Armenia with the goal to deepen existing effective cooperation on protection of human rights in Armenia.

Armenian Minister drew Commissioner's attention to the numerous cases of fragrant violation of human rights and international humanitarian law by Azerbaijan, as a result of which Armenian civilians experience inhuman treatment on the territory of Azerbaijan that sometimes leads to death.

Minister Nalbandian briefed the Commissioner on the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing states into finding peaceful settlement of Karabakh conflict.
